Property Costa Blanca
With the Costa Blanca hit probably harder than other areas of Spain during the recent long recession, builders going bust all over the place you would think that this is a place to avoid, but quite the contrary, sensibly priced (ie cheap) key ready new and resale property are there to be cherry picked. Fight your way passed the dross and over priced and you will find lots of prodigious bargains, at very realistic prices. I personally think a large proportion of what is available is still over priced so hunt around with different agents (very important) to find the best ‘uns. I know many agents now who actually won’t take on a property if the seller is still in dream land, as all it will do is clutter up a very crowded inventory. Remember if it is not priced to sell then don’t buy it!
With a capacious housing stock especially constructed for the foreign and to a lesser extent native buyers of holiday or primary homes, it may be hard to know just where to begin looking. Study the market carefully in the first instance, the web is the perfect medium to assist you in your search. If you don’t know the area you might wish to rent a property in different seasons to check it out to see if it is suitable for you. This is very important to assess if the community is suitable for a holiday home or continuing home for you and your family. You will not want to make the mistake of a couple I met last year who bought a retirement home on a very busy golf complex above 30 plus bars and restaurants in the February, then as the year progressed complained to all and sundry about the noise from visitors enjoying themselves.

The value of Costa Blanca property is directly proportional to local facilities, hence a beach front property in a prominent resort will be many times more expensive than a similar property a few kilometres inland on the edge of a real Spanish agriculural town. Some places are alive 365 days a year, but many smaller places are like ghost towns in mid winter, so decide what your criteria is first.
