Information on Malaga Airport, Costa del Sol, Spain
Malaga International Airport (AGP) is located 8km South West of Malaga city centre. It services the Costa del Sol, boasting easy access via the E-15 and N-340 motorways (well signposted and hard to miss). With in excess of 11,500,000 passengers passing through the airport in 2003 Malaga is one of Spain’s busiest destinations. It is also one of Spain’s oldest airports with its first routes starting up in 1919. However today it is a modern airport, with two terminals and good facilities.
Due to ever increasing demand, plans have been laid for further expansion in the form of a new terminal block. Official dates for completion are yet to be announced.
There are two public car parks at Malaga airport with a total of 1,426 spaces. Charges vary depending on length of stay. Parking for passenger coaches and car hire companies has also been provided.
Buses to Malaga (line 19) run every 30 minutes between 7.00am and 12.00am. The cost is roughly 1€ per person and there is a pickup from both terminals. This is an urban route and will pick up passengers along the way, so be prepared if you have a lot of luggage.
It is also possible to catch a bus to Marbella and although frequent, timetables vary depending on the season; the cost is around 3.68€.
There is a train service operating between the airport and Malaga city, as well as to Fuengirola. The service typically starts early and finishes late running every 30 minutes. The train station is situated next to the cargo terminal; opposite passenger terminal 2.
There is a taxi service operating out of terminals 1 and 2. A queuing system is in operation. Taxis are generally of a high standard and prices compare favourably to that of the UK. For Transfers to your hotel, availability and prices click AirportTransfers

Malaga airport boasts many facilities including 24 hour cash withdrawal, post, currency change and a shopping centre, as well as options on cafes and restaurants; though it has to be said the choice is better in the departures lounge than in the visitor’s area. Investment has recently been made available for the expansion of facilities offered at Malaga airport.

The terminal space is fully equipped with ramps and disabled toilets. Wheelchairs are available on request.
